Bhc chicken set to open 1st outlet in Indonesia
SEOUL, Dec. 17 (Yonhap) — Bhc chicken, South Korea’s leading chicken franchise by sales, will open its first outlet in Indonesia in the first half of next year, the company said Tuesday.
The company’s first store in Indonesia will be located at a downtown shopping mall in Jakarta to absorb young customers aged under 30 years who prefer to eat out and are more open to fast food, the company said in a press release.
The South Korean firm has signed a master license (ML) agreement with Indonesia’s PT. Nachindo Tape Industry to make its way into the world’s largest Muslim country, it said. The Indonesian firm currently operates Holland Bakery and Golden Tulip Holland Resort.
The ML agreement gives Nachindo a bigger say than its South Korean partner in the operation of Bhc chicken outlets and marketing activities in Indonesia, according to Bhc chicken.\
Indonesia is the world’s fourth most populous country, with 280 million people and half of its population aged 30 years or younger.
The company has obtained the halal certification from the Indonesian government for its chicken products while planning to receive orders through online platforms and offer delivery services for local customers, it said.
The chicken franchise currently operates 27 overseas stores — one in Taiwan, two in Hong Kong, three in Singapore, three in the United States, seven in Malaysia and 11 in Thailand, it said.
Bhc chicken is the chicken franchise unit of Dining Brands Group Co., formerly known as Bhc Group, which has a host of restaurant brands under its wing, including Korean barbecue franchise Changgo 43 and Outback Steakhouse.
